TSTV African was launched on the 1st of
October amidst wild jubilation from excited Nigerians who had been waiting for
so long for a satellite TV provider capable of
competing with DSTV. Having gone through the various channels available on the
TSTV platform and many other value added services,
like the free 20GB data that comes with the monthly subscription, wireless
router capability integrated into the decoder, ability to pause subscription a
record seven times a week and lots more, it was a question
of when are the decoders going to be available for purchases.
But a new twist have however emerged.

It was
revealed yesterday that the delay being experienced in the deployment of TSTV
installation kits to dealers may be unconnected with a letter purportedly from representatives Qatar-based sport television giants, BeIN sports. In the
letter which has since been branded fake, TSTV Africa were seriously
warned to desist from using the names and logos of the various BeIN
sports channels currently sampled on the official website of TSTV Africa
as parts of the premium channels it offers. Zoom into the image below to read letter.

Could this
be the handiwork mischief makers who are profiteers of the present monopolistic
system that puts 90% share of the satellite TV market in the hands
of Multichoice, owners of DSTV Africa? Why
would anyone not be happy with a development that brings about competition?
